How you can help

Even little steps you take can make a big difference!

Tree planting. (RSPB)

There are loads of things you can do to help forests thrive, even if you don’t live near one.

  • Buying more sustainable products. You can do this by checking the labels on products to see if they were produced in a forest-friendly way. Look out for certifications from organisations such as the Rainforest Alliance, Forest Stewardship Council and the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.
  • Engaging with nature yourself also helps! If there is a woodland – or even just a park – near your area, spend a bit of time in one to appreciate the natural world and get outdoors. You could make it even more fun by doing some activities, for example looking for leaves and find out what tree they are from. To make things more interesting, you can even set a challenge of who can spot the most leaves!
  • Planting trees is a great way to help out. Even just one in your back garden can do the trick! You could even start a tree-planting movement with your friends to make even more of a difference. An example of this was when a grandmother called Janet Willoner from Boroughbridge planted more than 4000 trees in her garden. Read more about this here!
  • Be a part of our Forest Aware Club! By joining, you can get special posters of various animals and plants that live in forests.

When you first sign up, you get a special token with our logo, shown above. You can then get more by completing set challenges.
