Saving the forests isn’t just about planting trees everywhere.
There are many species of trees that grow in forests, depending on what type of forest it is. Temperate forests will usually contain deciduous trees such as oak and beech, while boreal forests have evergreen trees like pines, spruces and larches. This variety is important as it means there is more biodiversity.
However, not every biome in the world contains trees. Grasslands without trees, such as savannahs, are also needed as these are where animals graze and look for food. There are also places where trees would not be able to survive, like deserts or mountainous landscapes.
Planting trees doesn’t just mean planting any type of tree anywhere. It’s vital to be aware of which kinds of tree thrive in a particular environment – this is being environmentally friendly!
